In 1902, in the small town of Two Harbors, Minnesota, USA, five businessmen set out to exploit a local mineral reserve and manufacture sandpaper. To achieve this, they founded the Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company, giving birth to 3M. However, it took several years for the company to grow into the industrial giant it is today. In 1910, 3M moved to St. Paul, also in Minnesota, where the foundation for its unprecedented global success was laid. There, various early advancements and innovations emerged in products such as sandpaper, masking tape, and other materials used in automobile manufacturing.
